Recommended for an easy afternoon read

As a hardcore Stephanie Plum fan, upon discovering the between the numbers books as an added extra to the normal numerical series, I had to read them.

Plum Lucky was not a disappointment, building on the characters I already know and love, but including the slight air of mystery and magic that comes with Diesel, who pops into Stephanie's life and kitchen (literally), on a regular basis.

The usual suspects are all involved, Stephanie Plum the unconventional bounty hunter who heads up the mad-cap gang, Lula the former 'ho' who fits her plus size body into any number of amazing and bright lycra outfits, and Grandma Mazur, Stephanie's elderly grandmother who doesn't believe in sitting down and knitting when she can be gambling in Atlantic City or attending the older 'Burg members hopping social scene at the local funeral homes.

This time, they're trying to save Doug the elderly horse from a fate worse than death. Okay it is just death. But who can't feel for a kidnapped horse!

With only 12 chapters and 166 pages it's not a complicated read, something that you can while away an afternoon with, with many laughs along the way and that I can promise. Many's the time I've been trying to stop myself laughing out loud on the train whilst reading one of Janet's books.

As she explains the characters briefly at the start of every book you don't even need to read the series in order, meaning this is as good a place to start as any!
