Advantages: Exciting
Disadvantages: Unrealistic
Point Blanc is the second book of the highly successful Alex Rider series written by Anthony Horowitz, which now has eight different book. If you haven't read the first book please don't read this as I have to include information from the first book although I will only say what is on the blurb for the second.
In the first book Alex Rider, an ordinary teenager becomes a spy after the death of his uncle. After an outstanding mission soon MI6 are knocking on his door again and wish to send him to Point Blanc, the school from hell. With armed guards and pupils eager to learn in optional Latin classes Point Blanc is a finishing school for extremely rich people to send their rebellious teenagers. Two of the parents whose kids go to these schools however, have been murdered in strange "accidents." Alan Blunt doesn't believe in coincidences however, and Alex is sent to find out the strange goings on in Point Blanc.
Once again Smithers equips him with all sorts sorts of amazing gadgets. Like the rest in the series this book is an action spy thriller generally based at a younger target audience of about ten probably. In my opinion the book has an extremely exciting end which has been created with great suspense by Anthony Horowitz. While nothing of this book stands out as bad some of it is extremely unrealistic especially the main plot but then again it is a children's book so everything doesn't have to be precise. Personally, I think while this isn't the best book in the series it is by no means the worst.
All in all, like all of Anthony Horowitz's books this a brilliant read which has great suspense and as always, gives you enough to want to know more without spoiling the plot. If you haven't read this book, or indeed the series I would thoroughly recommend this book.
Summary: Worth a read
