Death on the Nile - Agatha Christie

smiled because they had either read the book or seen the film) No, there´s nothing to be afraid of, there are no killers lurking on Egyptian cruisers. As always with Agatha Christie the setting doesn´t really matter - it can be the Orient Express, an English country mansion or, say, a Nile cruiser - the protagonists bring their problems with them and the crimes which are committed are the consequences thereof. This said it becomes clear that a thriller by Dame Aggie is worthless as background material for a trip, you don´t have to go anywhere to enjoy it, you can stay at home. And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie
by idodoyou - written on 24/06/01 (Very useful, 588 readings)
Rating:
was this author [a slight change in styles don't you think?] And now, 15 odd years later, she has read most, if not all of Agatha Christies offerings. Out of the 79 crime stories and short story collections that this author, throughout the years, has delighted and entertained her legions of fans with, this tale is an old favourite. Sitting here in my ever sticky little mitts I have a much dog eared copy of the book in question. It's weighing in with 221 pages [although, to be honest, I don't know just how much 221 pages actually weigh?] and came to me via a second hand stall for, if my sieve like brain can fudge up the information, about one squid. ...

And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie
by scribus impius - written on 30/11/00 (Useful, 239 readings)
Rating:
Having read a large number of Christie's books, I must say that this is one of her best. It features none of her regular characters - Poirot and Miss Marple - but instead concerns a group of totally unrelated people gathered on a mysterious island where, one by one, they begin to die. This story is treated with Christie's characteristic depth and imagination; the final solution (although rather far-fetched) does make sense and is worth the wait...I really didn't know who it would be, or see how they could do it. But, even mor important in my opinion, is the 'story' aspect of this book. And Then There Were None stands on its own as a thriller just as well as it does ...
