 ... trilogies, this book is really only to set the scene for the next two, but this doesn't detract from the book in any way. The plot is hugely entertaining and You really don't want to put it down. When you start reading this book it really does grab you, how many books have you read that start with a burning at the stake? The back was enough to get me to buy this one and this one was easily enough to get me to buy the others. This book is great, it has everything a book of this genre needs, a good plot a bit of romance, a betrayal, an evil magician, strong main character and accurate descriptions of how the bad guys die. As is the case in a lot of trilogies, this book is really only to set the scene for the next two, but this doesn't detract from the book in any way. The plot is hugely entertaining and You really don't want to put it down. I bought this on the strength of the blurb on Amazon, no other reviews were available at the time and I certainly did well out of it. I have a whole new reading addiction as a result.
