Russell Ash (of The Top 10 of Everything fame) has put together this amusing collection of "extraordinary but true names of British people". Why? Well I imagine because it's amusing. This book was given to me as a birthday present, and it probably wouldn't have been something I would have purchased for myself, I mean it's not a story or anything, and I'm not looking for ideas for baby names! However, it's one of those books you can dip into for a bit of a laugh, and rejoice that your parents weren't so cruel as to give you some of the hideous names that are found within. An extensive selection of extroadinary names of British people such as Minnie Cooper, Page Turner and Emma Royds (say it out loud). This book contains thousands of names all of which have notes attached to show where the people were born and died. The book is split into sections such as names which rhyme, names with doubles, boys with feminine names and so forth. The book is laced with innuendo from start to finish which is highlighted by the entire section dedicated to people who have 'fanny' in their name.
