From relative obscurity through to worldwide fame and out the other side, Liverpudlian Kevin Sampson's second novel Powder is simply hilarious. Never have I laughed so much at any one book. The Grams are a little known band playing wedding receptions until they are spotted by ex-junkie Guy who's just happed to set up his own record label - ReHab Records. Virtually overnight Keva, the lead singer and songwriter and his band Beano, Tony and the superb Mr James Love are transformed into superstars, as is their manager the nerdy Wheezer. Powder is a simply story really of one bands rise to fame, but is told cleverly through narration and has so many side stories of sex, drugs and rock 'N' roll that it'll leave you with a belly ache from laughing so much. I have yet to read his first novel, but I understand it is being adapted for the screen, so watch out!
Follows the story of a budding rock band - The Grams
