**A practical percussion-Kevin Edwards**
When i first started learning the drums this was one of the books that was recommended to me.At £13.99 i thought it was a little steep but was reassured that it was worthwhile getting as it would last me for years.
**About the author**
The author is currently the Assistant Director of Doncaster Schools music service but to be honest this means nothing to me but at least shows he has experience.
The book has been on the music best seller list for 20 years.
The book is designed for complete beginners to advanced standards and comes with a CD.
Layout etc
There is a section of the book dedicated with exercises to be used as daily warm up material.I think the book would be better if it was broken in to clearer sections, instead of just exercise after exercise.
CD
The CD is handy because it means you can check that you are playing the parts properly and they are played by the author so they match up exactly with the exercises in the book.
One bad thing about this book is that it doesn't have much information on the theory side of music-so even though the book is for beginners to drums,it might not be useful on its own if you don't have any previous music experience.
Pages 164-This book will last you ages as there is loads of material to practice in it.
i don't think this book is okay for people who are learning on their own without previous music experienc
