Advantages: generally a good book

Disadvantages: Only really aims for the female audience

I read this book quite a while ago, and found it to be a really good read. It doesn't have the most intricate of plots, but sometimes it's nice to read a simple book that doesn't take to much thought.
Well here is the basic plot.

Brie is in love with her gay best friend Charlie. Charlie is in love with walker, a gorgeous yet sleazy heartbreaker who is very much straight. Walker is in love with Daisy, a lesbian that seems to hate the world. She also has a girlfriend. The four of them sign up for a theatre group in the summer holidays and this is how they all come together.

When Brie and Charlie get in a fight, they stop talking and Charlie doesn't know what to do. Brie realises she doesn't need to constantly have Charlie there to depend on and makes some new friends. Meanwhile, Walker and Daisy are falling in love. Yet Daisy can't decide where she belongs. With her current girlfriend, Claire, Who is away at a peace camp in Devon, or with with Walker, who is known for his quick, meaningless flings?

'Pretty Things' is a funny, witty book filled with teenage angst and a lot of confusion over homosexuality. I got quite a few good laughs out of it and really did enjoy it.

The book is definitly more of a girls book, I say that without meaning to sound stereotypical. I just can't see many males enjoying it.

Summary: A funny, witty book. Definitly worth the read.
