people who police them. Funny, exciting and stuffed with in-jokes, it's often described as a super-powered version of Hill Street Blues. The only worry here is that Moore, who's working for DC apparently reluctantly, may have another disagreement with them that will cause his withdrawal. I really hope not. He's also written a pretty good prose novel, The Voice of the Fire, about Northampton's surprisingly varied history, and recorded a few CDs of his magical performance pieces (I've got one - The Highbury Working - good if you like that kind of thing, which I do, but probably a bit too strange to achieve mass appeal). There you go. Alan ...

Premium Review Alan Moore: Number One in the Top Ten! (895 words)

If you are reading this, it is probably because you have some idea who Alan Moore is and want to see how he is rated here. or maybe it is because you have been recommended to try him out, either by a review here or from another source. Chances are that, if you are the former, he needs little introduction. But if you happen to fall into the latter category, then let me introduce to you the man himself. Alan Moore has been a driving force in the field of comic writing for 2 decades. Like many British comic writers, his early work was on the weekly '2000 AD' comic, as well as work on the 'Dr Who' fan magazine. Following success on both comic magazines, ...

Batman: Killing Joke - Alan Moore

Premium Review Ha. (410 words)
by Matt B - written on 07/01/01 (Very useful, 57 readings)
Rating:

What does it take to turn a sane man to madness? Could sanity be as flimsy as to crack completely after just one bad day? This is the question The Joker tries to answer in DC's The Killing Joke. Remembering the fateful day which turned him into the lunatic he is now, The Joker escapes once more from Arkham Asylum (I swear, they must just leave the doors open at that place) and sets out on a terrifying rampage. His plan is to drive Commisioner Jim Gordon mad, after a day full of misery, grief, and torture. If Gordon is insane at the end of the day, then the Joker has made his point. Needless to say, Gordon is still sane at the end of the day (He's still ...
