Advantages: well written, really grips the reader

Disadvantages: none

I read this book after being told how good it was by numerous people and I was very impressed with it. It follows the story of Holly a young widow who is being led into her life without her husband by a series of letters he has wrote to her each signed ps I love you. She is helped along the way by her friends and family.

This is a really well written book and really gets the different personalities of characters through. The characters also have thier own stories through the book, which make there characters seem more real rather than just put in there to pad the story out. Each individual story is also carred through and some are happy and some sad they help give a nice contrast to the sad story of Holly and cheer the book up.

The relationship Holly and Gerry her husband have is told really well and he is a really likable character which makes the story even more sad than it already is. The love that they have for each other is portrayed in a really lovely way and you really feel for Holly.

I think a sign of a good author is one that can make you cry and really feel the emotions of the characters and Cecelia Ahern really does this. The book has happy and sad momments and the feelings come across really clearly.

I couldn't put this book down even though it had be crying a few tmes. It may seem quite a depressing book as I first thought it would be but it also gets across that she has to go on living and the notes and her friends and family all help in thier own little ways.

I would highly recommend this book it is so well written and a great story.

Summary: well worth reading

I love this book, I literally could not put it down. It made me laugh and cry at the same time which completely confused my poor son. The film is rubbish compared to the book so read the book first.
