Essential read for everyone wanting a little escape (PS, I Love You - Cecelia Ahern)

I read this book on recommendation from a friend and I could not put it down. I won't go into the plot too much as I wouldn't want to ruin it.

The story is focused on a young woman called Holly and her life and family. At the start of the book it is revealed that her Husband has died, just as Holly though their life together was starting. This book details how Holly goes through the next year of her life.

The book is so easy to read and really allows you to be swept along by the story. You begin to quickly care for the characters and feel their pain, sorrow and happiness. I found myself chuckling away at some of the things and crying by the next page.

The author has a clear talent for providing us with characters you want to know, and want to find out their story, something that I find essential in a book in order to enjoy reading it. After finishing this novel you feel like you know enough and there is a sense of satisfaction, a definitive ending.

I have read other works by this author and in my opinion they do not live up to this story. I have not seen the film but I will watch it now after reading the book. The story allows you to truly escape and feel for the characters and although it is essentially just a little love story I found it made me cherish what I have, as the saying goes you just never know what is round the corner.

Summary: Excellent novel
