Advantages: Easy to read, emotional, inspirational
Disadvantages: Slow moving at parts, disappointing ending?
'P.S I Love You' is a romance novel by Cecilia Ahern. It was first published in 2004 and later in 2007 was adapted to a film. The story is suitable for anyone and is an easy read.
The idea of this story is really quite clever. It's suprising how popular a story about a women's relationship with her dead husband can be so interesting to read. The characters are described well and we get a clear image in our mind exactly what they are like.
Unlike most stories, I wouldn't say this has a beginning, middle and end. It has lots of them! Each little event that happens has a beginning, middle and end! It's good that all the little events that happen make up the big story because it makes us not want to stop reading because we are getting a constant feeling of wondering what will happen next. However, stories written in this form can often seem to have a disappointing ending, as I found with this. But then again, what else could happen at the end of this story? Not much.
In parts I found the novel quite slow moving. When the pace of the story got quicker, it seemed to be the exciting parts with little description. I wish the exciting parts were described more and the less-interesting parts described less. Some people probably disagree- it's all about personal opinion. =]
I think this story learns people that life goes on no matter what. It teaches people how to enjoy themselves and live life to the full.
This book is suitable for anyone above the age of13 (however, I think girls would enjoy it a lot more- I doubt there's many men who have read it). It has you on a rollercoaster of emotions. In parts it will have you in tears, and some parts will make you laugh out loud.
I've got the paperback version of the book. I bought it for around £7 from WH Smiths, but it's probably available at most good bookstores. And I'm sure the hardback version will be more pricey. Buy it because there's no harm in reading it and finding your own opinion of it. =]
Summary: A nice read
