Disadvantages: MAY NOT APPEAL
WOW. This book is amazing and can appeal to absolutely anyone. It tackles all emotions such as sad and happiness.
This book is set in Ireland, Holly Kennedy a young, intelligent woman married to the love of her life an Irishman named Gerry. All of a sudden Gerry's contracts a serious illness and it completely knocks the confidence out of Holly. Gerry was the only person who she felt she could really talk to and with him go, things start to get into a mess. But, luckily Gerry planned ahead for the coming year! Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a 10 letters to get through her grieving stages and also to help her to move on in life. The letters include different tasks and treats Gerry has left for Holly. He does this so that Holly knows how he wants her to live her life after he has gone because at the end of the day he was her life. Each letter sends her on a new adventure and each letter ends the same "P.S. I Love You." Hence the name of the book! Holly's mother and best friends, Sharon and Denise, begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly from moving on, but, they are wrong and Holly is trying her best to move on. She uses Gerry's word as a guide and discovers how marriage can lead to a new beginning as well as death an d Holly finally becomes happy again...
The plot of the story is so intense and it keeps you gripped the whole way through. If you are the type of person who likes fiction stories and are quite girly or like anything to do with Ireland, this is your cup of tea. The story was released as a film and whoever you ask are guaranteed to saw it was amazing!
Advantages of buying this book are; you are guaranteed to not be able to put it down, it is worth the money, celcelia ahern is a great author ans writes fabulous books.
The downsides to this are that it is in small print so if you have glasses or struggle reading this may not appeal to you, also it is quite modern so would probably need appeal to the younger generation. Overall, it is a brilliant read!!!
I liked this book because i felt i could really relate to Holly myself. I was so impressed i went to see the film. I just thought it kept you hooked the whole way through and the use of letters was a great idea to keep the readers/audience in suspense!
