I have had this book in my collection for about a year as i am a Communications Student. I particularly like this book as it is an interesting and informative read. The book particularly focuses on social behaviour and relationships with others (interpersonal)as a source of happiness. The book also suggests that the failure of these results in great distress and can be a root cause in mental disorders (something else which i am interested in with me also being a psychology student). This distinguished psychologist has here written an equally distinguished book. Although first published in 1967 this book has not passed it’s sell by date. I have for some time now been delivering seminars which explore basic communication skills. I have found this work invaluable. I warn you it is heavy reading, my only criticism, but well worth the effort. Argyle explains well many aspects of interpersonal behaviour but also discusses the experimental evidence for his conclusions. He also discusses the uses of his findings.
