Advantages: A vast amount of information

Disadvantages: Is quite expensive

Richard Gross's Psychology book is an excellent book for beginning the study of Psychology. I first came across this book when i began study AS Psychology at college. My teacher introduced us to the book and it was a real life saver.
Psychology is very complex and there are a lot of complex and technological words and phrases and Gross's book helps to make this a lot easier to understand and puts it into plain English rather than Psychological speak.
It has at least 50 chapters full of everything from the very basics such as the many different paradigms and school of thoughts in Psychology. It tells you all about the key figures such as Freud and Skinner and sets out the ground rules and central points.
I found this book very useful and in doing my my AS and A levels it helped me out a great deal. It also continued to be useful in the early stages of my undergraduate degree and if ever i got stuck, i knew i could rely on this book to help me out.
It can be quite expensive, but for the quality and the information that is presented it is very good and definitely worth getting if you are a psychology student.

Summary: A impressive book for all psychology students
