I was a teenager when I first discovered Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, and loved the sense of humour and easy to read writing style. Over the years I've built up quite a collection of the books, some that I love to read again and again, and others that haven't been quite so good. Somehow I'd missed this particular book, and have only recently bought it, and actually only just finished reading it this very day. So, what did I think about it, well read on and you'll find out. ---About Discworld--- Discworld is a planet, that while is in many ways similar to Earth, is also in many ways different. For many years it was believed that the Earth was ... Read the complete review

There is a quote by Douglas Adams I would like to share with you. He said, ?I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.? I know what he means. I?m not saying that I regard writing opinions as anything other that an enjoyable hobby but I do try and stick to my own loose set of deadlines and produce one every couple of weeks or so. If you?ve read any of my previous ops you might have noticed that I?m planning on reviewing all of the Discworld novels by British author Terry Pratchett and although I may not be the most prolific opinion writer around I was slowly ... “Pyramids are dams in the sea of time….The time that should have passed in the chamber was stored in the bulk of the pyramid and allowed to flare off once every twenty-four hours…The ancients were far too wise to build very big pyramids. They could cause very strange things, things that would make mere fluctuations in time look tiny by comparison. By the way, contrary to popular opinion, pyramids don’t sharpen razor blades. They just take them back to when they weren’t blunt.” This is a really funny book. As in many Discworld books, Pratchett can joke about concepts from nuclear physics & philosophy, without going too ... Read the complete review

Welcome to the Discworld - round, flat and carried on the back of four enormous elephants, who in turn balance on the pocked shell of Great A'tuin - the sky turtle. 10,000 miles long, Great A'tuin swims endlessly through the dark, infinite reaches of Space. On a world such as this anything can - and frequently does - happen. Forget the laws of physics, Jim. Here the laws of magic rule, from the god-haunted mountains of the Hub to the Rim, where the waters of the Circle Sea spill eternally over the edge of the world. Come closer, down below lies the legendary city of Ankh-Morpork, home of the Assassin's Guild. Where our hero, Teppic, is ... Read the complete review

pyramids is in my opinion the greatest book that Pratchett has ever written, everybody needs to read this book, full of the humour that has made pratchett so well known and is the strongest testemony to his value as a fantasy writer. It is alway's difficult to find something negative to say about Pratchett's book's and in this case it is impossible. The central character in Pyramids is Teppic, prince of a place that is in some way's quite similar to the ancient Egypt. the book details teppics journey through life from young and optamistic prince through to being king and hero. mixed with pratchetts unique writting style and charisma this ...
