*** Read it wisely, Little One, for the power of ignorance is great. STEPHEN FRY *** I'm an avid fan of QI the television series. I've watched all four seasons so far on television, most of the episodes more than once thanks to BBC4 and BBC2 repeats and of course UKTV G2. I ordered season one on DVD from Amazon together with this book. I wish to thank dooyoo for the gift voucher enabling me to purchase both, the DVD box set AND the book accompanying the series. At the time of ordering the price for the hardback edition by Faber was £5.20, however, upon checking prices you now have to pay £6.50. I had hoped to get it cheaper at Tesco but this time round ... Be careful. If you are currently experiencing any form of identity crisis, if you are kept awake at night by existential malaise, if you cling to the safety of irrefutable facts as if they were rafts in an unforgiving sea, then this may not be the book for you. If, however, your state of mind is strong enough to allow long-held 'truths' to be irrevocably shattered, along with your faith in the national curriculum, then read on! Because in this tome you will learn that Henry VIII had either two or four wives, but certainly not six; that human beings have four nostrils; that chameleons do not change their colour to suit their background; that ... If you are a fan of the hit TV panel show QI, you should also love this book. The book is a compilation of things that you thought you knew, but in fact, you were totally wrong. This is a book that makes you want to say, "Bet you didn't know...", and I have done this a couple of times. The book is quite an easy read, where you can dip in and out of it, as its non-fiction. About 300 pages in length, with quotes from famous thinkers and illustrations too, this book is suitable for the people that want to find out interesting facts, and then impress their mates afterwards. There are many questions that are then answered, in the book about 250, although ... Read the complete review

QI is a panel/quiz show hosted by the legendary steven fry, where the panelists (all celebrities, always including alan davis) get points for being interesting, and points away for obvious wrong answers. The twist is that the answers which most think are correct are wrong, and they tell you the real answer. It is a very interesting program, and very funy too. The book carries on from the program, including many many facts which you would not know. It is called the book of general ignorance as there is a round on the program called general ignorance, which is where the answers you think are right are always wrong! The book therefore is ... I love the TV series of QI. It is probably my favourite show on TV. And this book may not be quite as funny but it is certainly very entertaining. There are hundreds of things in here you thought you know but really you don't. It is incredibly interesting the sort of things that are in here. There are little gems of information in all manner of subjects like sport, history, culture and geography. What really annoys me is the reviews which say 'Everything that you never needed to know' because some of the things in here are really quite useful to know. Being Welsh, I was quite proud when I discovered that America is named after a Welsh person. Anyone will love this book ... Read the complete review
