I read this book a couple of days ago, and believe you me, I have never read a book like it. I picked this book because I had read another book by Sherryl Jordan, called The Secret Sacrament, and I had admired her writing. But after reading The Raging Quiet, it put all other books in the background! Why do I like it? When I read this book I understood the true meaning of 'unputdowneable.' Apart from the obvious, it also means that even when you're not reading the book, you can't wait to carry on. That's how I felt. It is so well written that you can't rest until you have finished the book. the book has won an award and if any book ... Read the complete review

I picked up "The Raging Quiet" purely out of curiosity, and found that i could not put it down. The inscription in the front of the book intrigued me and the more i read the more i was fascinated. Whilst reading i felt like i was there following marnie and raven through a journey of purgatory, hurt, anger, and happiness. The way Sherryl Jordan writes is unique and truly moved me, i felt as if i was there and i knew the characters. The way Raven was portrayed provoked strong feelings and was extremely emotive, i felt connected to the characters in some way.It is a very powerful read, extremely deep and moving. This is definatly one of the best books i ... Read the complete review

I bought The Raging Quiet purely because I stumbled upon it accidentally and the blurb intrigued me (as I enjoy reading books set in medieval times). I even found the front cover of the book interesting. I bought it on a spur of the moment, and I’m glad I did. The story has quite a simplistic plot; the main character, Marnie forms an affinity with a deaf man, so when the villagers realise she has made communication with him, they suspect she is a witch. I found the story compelling to the very end. It makes you consider prejudice and trust. I read this book within 2 or 3 days, I couldn't put it down. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good book ... Read the complete review
