Shane Richie is the son of a dustbin man from harlesden. This book tells of the good and bad times shane has had in his struggle from there to where he is now. Shane started out after leaving school working at butlins holiday camps, he then stared in a musical performance of grease, then he became a well known face on saturday night tv presenting numerous shows including lucky numbers and the shane richie experience. The fame went to his head and living a life of partying and womanising lead to the breakdown of his marriage to coleen, from this came the binge drinking that was the downfall of his career. Shane lost everything but ... Read the complete review

HATE TO ACCEPTANCE A few years ago, I would have said I hated Shane Richie. There was no concrete reason behind it, I’d never met the man, it was just a feeling. I knew he’d cheated on Coleen Nolan when they were married and I thought of him as arrogant, annoying, one of those grinning faces you want to slap. When I heard he was going to be in EastEnders, I was close to stopping watching it – a programme I’d followed since the first episode in 1985! I was convinced he would ruin it and I couldn’t face the thought of seeing him four times a week. But I decided to give him a chance and I’m glad I did. The ... Read the complete review

To be honest I'm not much of a book reader and if anything only football autobiographies appeal to me. However, I can make an exception for Shane Richie's 'Rags to Richie.' My mum bought it and said it was worth a read so I thought I woild give it a go when I went off on holiday and only did so because I liked his character on Eastenders. Of course, my mates ripped me to shreds for reading it but I'm really glad I did! Shane's story is somewhat unique in the route that he went down to become famous and let me tell you he doesn't half get up to some pretty interesting antics along this road! He truly does come from rags but takes every opportunity ... Read the complete review

I’ve never really been a fan of Shane Ritchie. You see my hairdresser is the hairdresser to the Nolan’s and when he had his affair with the dancer of Grease, the sisters went up in arms over it. My opinion of him dropped drastically as I heard first hand at that time just how much he had hurt the youngest of the sisters, Colleen. When I heard he had joined Eastenders, I thought “ no way”, this won’t work. I still didn’t like him for his past behaviour. I even thought of turning off Eastenders in protest but didn’t of course. I hate to admit it, but I was wrong. As Alfie Moon with his sidekick Kat Slater, it’s a great match and he fits in brilliantly. Hate to ... Read the complete review

I have just come back from a blissful week in Tunisia, lying around the pool reading books, sipping the odd cold beer along the way, just to keep cool you understand. One of the books I read was Rags to Ritchie by Shane Ritchie (with Sue Crawford). And I’m surprised to admit it was a dam good read! Previous thoughts about Shane. I didn’t have any strong feelings about his career prior to Eastenders where I think he's done a superb job as Alfie Moon. I always considered Shane to be a slightly cheesy light entertainer, Mr Quiz show, every ones mate, always there with a witty quip or a sharp answer. I knew he had been a Bluecoat at Pontins and I knew ... Read the complete review
