Ranma is a manga by Rumiko Takahashi, my favourite author and one of the best in Japan; it consist in 38 volumes of about 180 pages each, published between 1987 and 1991 by Shogakukan There is also an Anime and many OAV. Well this sums up the plot... Ranma is a young boy.. He has a dad named Genma. One day they are training (in martial arts) over an enchanted lake. They somehow manage to fall in and when they emerge......, well Ranma is now a young girl and Genma has turned into a Panda bear..(who by the way cannot talk - he uses signboards a la roadrunner) They meet with a family who has daughters, and to cut a long story short, Ranma is in love with one of the girls.... who is pretty freaked out at Ranma's sex-change abilities... Ranma 1/2 is a Japanese animated series from Rumikio Takahashi, one of Japan's best. History: It started as a manga (graphic novel). Then due to its popularity it became an animated series which aired in Japan around 1992. The animated series was later imported to the U.S. by Viz Video. Viz Video is based in San Francisco and distributes tapes through mail-order. This is one of the most popular animes.
