Promoted as a 'journal of hope and healing', the first edition of 'Recovering the Self' is a mixed collection of items: there are interviews, poems, stories, memoirs, press releases and articles on psychology. I was intrigued by the diversity on offer, but as I read each section I began to wonder who the intended audience was - or indeed, if the publishers had really considered this issue. The sections often did not seem to relate to each other, which is why I am going to review each in turn.
