The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie - Alan Bradley

I ordered this book out of my local library following a recommendation. Initially I was a little concerned about the cover of the book as at best it could be described as dull (Red with what looks like black splodges on). However, the saying "Never judge a book by it's cover" has never been more true! This was a thoroughly enjoyable murder mystery in the style of a grown up Famous Five jaunt. The main character of the story is Flavia de Luce, a somewhat precocious 11 year old girl usually preoccupied by all things chemistry and constant feuds with her older sisters Daphne and Ophelia.
