Power of a Woman - Barbara Taylor Bradford
by Whizz11 - written on 30/04/09 (Very useful, 158 readings)
Rating:
I had never read a Barbara Taylor Bradford book up until now but I had of course heard of her. I think I always got the opinion that her books were aimed at an older audience and a bit Mills and Boon, I m not sure but I think this is probably why I had not read one of them before. I actually borrowed this book from my Grandmother so it was sort of living up to my stereotypes a bit by being for older people. Nevertheless she is an extremely successful author. On the back of this book, Power of a Woman, it says that over 57 million copies of her novels have been sold worldwide. THis book was published in 1998 so 11 years later I m sure that number has gone up considerably. ...

The Triumph of Katie Byrne - Barbara Taylor Bradford
by kaitlinsmummy - written on 12/03/08 (Very useful, 29 readings)
Rating:
present for my nan, it was on special offer at asda costing just £1.00. On getting it home and on further inspection, I noticed it was by Barbara Taylor Bradford, I have read some of her books in the past and have absolutely loved them so decided to keep it for myself. The general jist of the story is this - The book is centred around the character of Katie Byrne. It starts off when she is seventeen years old, her and her best friends Denise and Carly are avid amateur actors and talk of nothing but how, once they leave school, they are all going onto an acting college in New York. A few pages into the story, ( I was by this time enthralled and looking forward to a ...

Heirs of Ravenscar - Barbara Taylor Bradford
by kaitlinsmummy - written on 04/02/09 (Very useful, 78 readings)
Rating:
from the fact it was being sold for £1.00 at Asda, god bless Asda, was the fact that it was written by one of my favourite authors, this being Barbara Taylor Bradford. I have read a far few books by BTB with my favourite being Woman of substance. From the blurb on the back of the book I got the feeling that this book was going to be in the same strain of writing. The book is in three parts, with each part covering a life of a Deveranal. The Devearanals are a big and very wealthy family. Head of the family is the very dashing Edward. An entrepreneur of the early 20 s, Edward had made his fortune investing in oil. Edward had everything he could possibly desire, a ...
