Advantages: Readable and enjoyable
Disadvantages: Predictable
I really enjoyed this book and read it in 2 days. Once I started there was no stopping me. I picked it up in my usual book haunt (a local charity shop) for the usual 50p, I was surprised to see it there as it is quite a new book.
Sophie Kinsella has I think bought a new form of chick lit to the table. Girls that love to shop fell in love with Becky Bloomwood in the shopaholic series and now everything she writes will sell well. This book follows the same format as her other novels, 30 something female living in London, isn't content with things and has a major revelation somewhere along the way and usually has some resolution and a bit of a happy ending. That is why Kinsella's books are the guilty pleasures of so many women- we know the basic direction the book will take but we'll read it anyway.
Remember Me centres around Lexi, one day she wakes up a different person- this is not 13 going on 30 or freaky friday though, the poor girl has amnesia and she isn't a different person its just that in 3 years her life has changed.
Sophie Kinsella researched the topic of amnesia whilst writing this book and it shows. I mean I'm no medical expert but it seems to be written in a very realistic way.
For the majority of the book you feel quite sorry for Lexi. Then a potential reason to hate her is thrown into the mix and I'll let you read it to decide if you love or hate her at the end.
Its a good book and worth the sticker price, the characters are interesting and quite complex really. It is very readable perhaps the thing to take on a weekend away.
Summary: This is a great offering from Sophie Kinsella and worth a read by anyone whether a fan or not
