Advantages: Good author, Plot keep you guessing, well written and realistic characters

Disadvantages: The chick lit genre isn't for everyone

Remember Me is another book that I bought because it was on offer at Borders, at a different time though and this time it was buy one get one half price. I had only read one Sophie Kinsella book before which was Confessions of a Shopaholic, which I'd also seen the film of and I really liked it so decided to try another of her books.

Remember Me starts off introducing us with a few pages to the main character, Lexi who is your average girl who's just trying to get on in the world. When we meet her she's on a night out, its her dads funeral the next day, she has a disastrous love life, crooked teeth and is 25. However, she has a fall while waiting for a non existent taxi to turn up, and hits her head. When she wakes up, she's a stunning 28 year old with straight teeth who's head of her department and married to a billionaire. Things certainly have changed, and Lexi has no idea how. It seems like a dream come true, but then she realises that its not what she wants at all as she's alienated her friends, cant stand her husband, her jobs in danger and everyone seems to hate her. Will Lexi ever recover her memory? And how did she get like this in the first place?

One of the best points about the book had to be the characters, which really summed up Sophie Kinsella's writing style and said very positive things about it. The main character in the novel is Lexi Smart, as described above. Unlike most of the one dimensional characters that seem to be cropping up in chick lit books these days, Lexi seemed to be like a totally normal person with bad habits and weaknesses as well. You could totally sympathise with her, and feel very emotion with her as the book went along, and we discovered just why the future Lexi was as she turned out to be.

It was also quite original, with some chick lit books you can tell what's going to happen and predict every twist that the author intended to be a surprise. However, here I was left on tenterhooks wondering what was going to happen as I turned each page. As I had only previously read confessions of a shopaholic, I had no experience of Kinsella's standalone novels but after reading this I'm going to hunt down some others on amazon and see if they match up to this one.

Overall, one that I would totally recommend. If you're looking for something to read on the beach this summer, then look no further! Its been getting very good press, and I'm hoping that this will be the next of Kinsella's novels to be turned into a film.

Summary: An excellent book if you like chick lit,
