Druidry, like many other Pagan paths, is rising in popularity at the moment. Emma Restall Orr, one of the leading lights in the British Druid Order, is one of the better known writers in this field. She's written a fair few books about Druidry, and if what I've seen thus far is typical, it's accessible and poetic stuff. perhaps not useful or ideal for everyone, but if Druidry tempts you, its a good place to make a start. 'Ritual' as a word conjures up images of elaborate costumes, symbolic actions, complex scripts and archaic wisdom. For many people, myself included, the term ‘ritual’ tends to raise visions of religious formality and pomposity. With that meaning at the foremost of my mind I was rather opposed to ‘ritual’ until I read this book. The very first impression on reading the first few words was a sense of peace and calm. The author has an exquisite poetic style which expresses very well what she is attempting to say. You find yourself sharing her experiences and thoughts and reading this book is almost like participating in a kind of ritual as Emma Restall Orr defines it.
