Advantages: Unique, thought provoking, like no other

Disadvantages: Potentially sensitive subject

I found Room a very interesting book and it's different. I'd never read anything like it. Often one book can remind you a bit of another, that is not the case with Room. When I first picked up Room I found it very hard to get into, I wasn't in a very good frame of mind and eventually put it down. A friend persuaded me to give it another go a few months later and I am glad that I did. It is a thought provoking book and I enjoyed reading something so unique and written from the unusual perspective of a young child. I don't really want to say much more about it, best to come to it fresh. I don't think the back cover even has much blurb written on it. Start of book is maybe a bit slow, but stick with it, it is is worth it. Emma Donoghue deals with what it potential a very difficult subject in a senstivie and incredibly thoughtful way. It is a bit of a study of child development and the mother / young child relationship. I haven't read any of her other books, but I think I should. It's on my top 10 list.
