Advantages: easy to read, helps to gain confidence

This book is aimed at girls from 6 years to about 10 years. This is the first book in the Rainbow Magic series. There are 7 rainbow fairy books in this mini series.

This story starts with 2 young girls who first meet when they are on a ferry on their way to Rainspell Island for a holiday with their parents, they get chatting and realize their cottages are very close and will become great friends. One day they are on an adventure exploring the island and follow the rainbow to see if there is a pot of gold at the end. They find a pot but it has a fairy trapped inside it. This is Ruby and she explains how they must help her to find her sisters (the other rainbow fairies).

The girls have lots of fun on there holiday and agree to help find the rainbow fairies, but they must keep it a secret.

This is a great story and has helped my 7 year old daughter on her way to being a fluent and confident young reader. The story is very interesting and it keeps her gripped at all times. The story is broken down into 6 chapters. There are a lots of pictures throughout the book to break up the text. This book has 73 pages. These books are widely available from many retailers, we got this one from WH Smiths for 3.99

I would recommend this book to any young reader, to help them become more confident reading on their own or to others. The book is laid out in a way that is not intimidating to an early reader. I find that just the look of some books can put off my daughter from reading them on her own, but not this one. Another great thing about this book is that it is part of a huge series, but if you have not read previous stories, it won't matter as each book has substance in it's own right.

This book is currently available on Amazon.co.uk for around 3 pounds.

This book is written by Daisy Meadows, and illustrated by Georgie Ripper.
