Advantages: Ok if you like historical romances
Disadvantages: Plotline was quite weak
This is the first book I have read by Tamara Lejeune, there is no definite date given to the novel, but it is it seems to be set around the regency period and is a historical romance.
The book is set in Bath and focuses on the lives of the rich and priviledged who live there.
There are 2 main characters in the book:
1. Sir Benedict Wayborn, who is looked on by many of the female characters as being old, he is probably in his late thirties. He lost one of his lower forearms in an accident when he was a young boy and this is another talking point for many of the other characters.
2. Miss Cosima Vaughn (Cosy) who along with her younger sister has accompanied her ill mother to Bath to 'take the waters' which were believed to have restorative powers for invalids.
The two meet when Sir Benedict arrives in Bath and mistakenly goes to the Vaughns house rather than the house he had hired and mistakes Cosy for a housekeeper.
The idea of mistaken identities and things being not as they appear is used frequently and to me the key part of the storyline was unrealistic to the point of being ridiculous.
Overall this isn't a book I would recommend to others as I felt the storyline was really too weak, however it was an engaging story and I did like the idea of the plot, I just felt it could have been written to be far more realistic.
Summary: I can't see myself recommending this to a friend
