I had read a couple of Jill Mansell books before, but she was not really one of my top authors. I saw Rumour Has It for £3.49 as the book of the week, and I was looking for something to take on a weekend away. Although the back of the book did not paint a picture of a very engaging story line, I knew her books are generally easy reading, and due to lack of anything else that took my fancy I decided to give it a go! I certainly wasn't disappointed. The book is written in third person which allows for a narrative which describes each character in detail bringing them all to life. The main character is Tilly Cole, who comes home to her London flat to find that ... Read the complete review

Jill Mansell is considered to be at the forefront of 'chick-lit' writing and has a number of popular novels under her belt. Rumour Has It is the story of Tilly Cole a twenty-something, newly single woman who changes her life by moving to a new place (a quirky village in the country somewhere), taking a on a new job (a quirky but fun one that she has no experience of - as is usually the case in this type of book) and meeting a handsome chap who is probably going to be no good for ... Even though I am a "chick-lit" fan, I have seemed to missed the back catalogues of writers that have been around a while, such as Cathy Kelly and Jill Mansell. I should really begin to get their books from the library because I have liked their recent material, but I still can't help borrowing their new books as soon as they're released! I loved my first Jill Mansell novel last year (An Offer You Can't Refuse, see review!), so I was keen to try her new book called Rumour Has It, and I had hoped for another thoroughly enjoyable book, and once again Mansell has delivered for her fans. Tilly Cole is happy working in London, but realises that life isn't ... Read the complete review
