For anyone that knows the work of J G Ballard they will know that short stories are what he does well. Admittedly increasingly he is writing some really great full novels like Super Cannes and Cocaine Nights, however some of his best writing is in short stories either published in their own right or in a collection of stories. Running Wild is one of my favourites of his to date. Not only is it well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat, but it is a crime novel and I have to admit that forensic and crime novels are my favourite style of fiction. Therefore, one of my favourite authors writing in one of my favourite styles, it certainly had a lot to live up to! ...
