Advantages: enjoyable story, great price, Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Disadvantages: /

Ever since I was a child I have adored the American show, 'Sabrina the teegage witch'. It is a wonderful programme aimed at kids (but great for the whole family) about a teenage witch named Sabrina. Living in the mortal realm with her two Aunts, Hilda and Zelda, and their familiar Salem, Sabrina has to learn to use her powers, get through high school and tackle every other problem that is thrown at her (there is a lot of them!).

I had a few of the books as a child that were released based on the TV show, but I never really bothered reading them. However over the last two years or so I have been buying all the books, in an attempt to own all the Sabrina merchandise, and now I can happily say I have read my way through them! One of these books is 'Now and Again'.

Now and Again, book number fifty two, is one of the last books in the collection. It is written by David Cody Weiss and Bobbi Weiss. Together they have written several of the books in the Sabrina range, including Salem on Trial, Age of Aquariams, and Go Fetch. Having read and enjoyed their work before, I had high hopes for this book straight away.

The cover of the book is not one of my favourites however. All the Sabrina covers are attractive, don't get me wrong, but this one simply does not grab me as much as the others - it isn't as glittery! Under a lovely blue background there is a picture of Melissa Joan Hart, the actress who plays Sabrina, against an outdoors photo with a very creepy looking gnobe staring at her. It is quite chilling compared to the others, especially if you are like me and don't like gnomes!
The book itself is about Sabrina and the bother she lands herself in. She wishes she was back to her more simple life when work wasn't so hectic, and the little garden gnome overhears and grants her the wish. Though while her life is back to high school days, she still lives with her college friends and nobody knows who she is...

The plot of this book itself is quite unique - it definitely isn't like any of the others. However it has similarities to many of the episodes. The gnome is just like the character of Roland who appears in the first few series'. There is also an episode where Morgan, Miles and Roxie do not know who Sabrina is because of her evil twin's tricks. It's a nice read but it does make me think of the episodes a lot.

This book is an ideal read for anybody in the 9-13 age bracket. I owned a few of the books when I was about ten and although I was perfectly capable of reading them, I chose not to as I didn't then like to read things that I watched. The text is quite a small size though so it is not ideal for the less confident reader as this may put them off. In all I would say this particular book is perfect and is not too hard to follow at all.

The Sabrina books are no longer sold in stores anymore. However they are widely available online from sites such as eBay and Amazon. I never tend to buy them on Amazon, apart from one time when I bought a bulk load of them. This book in particular is priced at just 1p on Amazon, with a postage and packaging of £2.75. That is a wonderful price, especially since the book has an RRP of £5.99!

This is a delightful book, providing you with a great read. As a more mature reader it is a wonderful read, and for the younger ones, it will be a gripping and consistent read that will have them thinking. If you are a fan of the show, or like the idea of a magical read, then this is definitely worth looking at!
