Advantages: wonderful story, attractive design
Disadvantages: not for all
I'm a huge fan of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. It was my favourite show as a child and even now it is one of my most loved shows. It is all about a teenage witch named Sabrina who has to live in the mortal realm with her two Aunts, Hilda and Zelda, and their familiar, Salem. While learning to use her powers, Sabrina also has to deal with normal teenage things like school and friends. This American show was a huge success and ran for seven seasons. Along with the episodes, a lot of merchandise was released, including a large collection of books! One of these books is Witch Glitch.
Witch Glitch tells the story of yet another of Sabrina's antics. When a spell goes wrong - a usual occurence for the teenage witch - Sabrina finds that everybody's lives have been rearranged. Her own life, and everybody around her, have messed up completely! Can she work out it was her doing, and more importantly, fix the spell and put everything back to normal?
This is a delightful little story. There's not a moment when you aren't kept biting your nails, wondering whether Sabrina will be able to use her magic to fix her error. It's quite amusing too, but I think that's mainly down to the characters. The main characters in the story are Sabrina, Morgan and Roxie. They all have different personalities, but they gel so well. And Morgan never fails to amuse me with her moments and outrageously unintelligent personality! Roxie too is incredible, a fiesty character who doesn't care what people think. However it is Sabrina that is my favourite character, naturally! She's simply magical!
Witch Glitch is written my Leslie Goldman. There are a series of authors who write for the Sabrina range, and I'm not too familiar with any other of Leslie's work. Though she's written another Sabrina book, called The Truth Hurts, which is also a nice book! She's definitely an author I'd look out for.
The bad thing about Sabrina books is that you cannot buy them in shops any longer. I always buy mine online, but I find that they do work out cheaper this way anyway! The books, including this one, have an RRP of £4.99 to £6.99, but online they can cost much less. You can buy Witch Glitch for 1p on Amazon.co.uk, with p&p of just £2.75. That's an amazing price, I'm sure you'll agree!
The book is easy to spot because of it's attractive cover. It has quite a calm peach background colour, with a glittered border. On the front there are two images of Melissa Joan Hart - the actress who plays Sabrina in the TV series. It's very pretty, and easily identified as a Sabrina book as the logo can be seen above Melissa. It's definitely an attractive design!
This is a wonderful book and would be a great read for anybody around the age of twelve. I do love it even at my age too! I'm not certain you'd enjoy it if you were not a Sabrina fan, as being able to relate to it is part of the fun. However I'd definitely say it is worth a try!
