The next couple of pages are actually really helpful for a complete cooking novice like me as it explains all the jargon that are usually littered throughout regular cookbooks. I have to admit if someone asked me to marinate something, they would get a blank look in return. I've never been a domestic goddess, much preferring to rely on my other wifely skills rather than my cooking! However after years of the same old meals even I admit I was getting a bit bored. Jacket potatoes and curries from a jar were the extent of my culinary expertise and knowing this, my lovely mum bought me this cook book with the hope that I'd become a bit more interested in cooking. Ignoring her ever so slightly sexist "a wife should know how to cook" comment I thought I'd give it a whirl.
