Sam’s Science by Kate Rowan is a series of basic science books for young children. The age range for them is fairly wide – I’m reading them aloud to my pre-schoolers, but a confident reader of, say, seven, would enjoy them alone. The books take the form of a conversation between Sam and his Mum and there are titles such as ‘I Know Why I Brush My Teeth’ and ‘I Know How My Cells Make Me Grow’. Don’t groan and think it’s far too boring and worthy for my children because these books really are a brilliant introduction to basic biology.
