Do not buy and pigeons are a very attractive commercial incentives. Gill needs more practice at sustaining his language skills or more control over editors,the book fails slightly because the inital impetus is not sustained. However there are enough points of empathy in the characters for the reader to keep the strangest stranger from completly feeling comfortable with your views on this book. Living not far from the supposed square most of the characters are recognisable in several and many in passing. It is more skillfully written than Wilt, a book that merely affirmed the zeitgeist. Now when I buy a book, I don't always read the reviews, but when the cover has a review from some newspaper saying "don't buy this book" well you start to wonder why. well I did anyway. To put if briefly its cause AA Gill is a complete and utter pervert. Not just a little pervert but the type you're warned away from not just during childhood, but throughout your adult life. Saying this is one thing, but you may wonder why I do. Well this is the only author and book I have read that invloves, hetrosexual sex (although this he describes least), homosexual sex acts (lots) anmials having sex (I think that this was just thrown in for good luck), ...
