Newest Review: ... to explain the everyday. It’s a nice term but perhaps a touch overstated. True many of his tales require a certain suspension of belief but they are not necessarily magical. When describing one of my favourite authors it might seem strange to hear me declare that I believe that Jose Saramago has outright contempt for the written form and the limitations of language. It may seem all the more strange when I tell you that despite this he has won the Nobel Prize for Literature. However, as I will hopefully explain, it is this contempt for his medium that sets him out amongst many others and lends his work a true honesty to the point that I would, perhaps rather rashly having never met the man, let him baby-sit, even if I have no kids.
