He has escape routes planned too and is very prepared in case anything goes wrong.
The problem for the squirrel is that sometimes the unexpected happens and when a bee comes too close to him, he panics and knocks his emergency kit out of the tree. He then decides to jump to rescue it but hasn't got his parachute on, as it's in the case.

***Background*** Melanie Watt has written a few of these Scaredy Squirrel books now but I think this one was her first one. As well as writing these stories she also illustrates them and has worked with other authors such as Sharon Jennings and Margaret Carney. Sentimental account Great rhyming text. Not quite as humorous as some of the other books in the series. Well presented, bright illustrations. No 'new' ideas - can find recipes just as good on the internet. Teachers the alphabet, lots of animals, bright illustrations. Incorrect colours given for some animals. Good discussion point.
