Advantages: A really good read
Disadvantages: The last one!
This is Maeve Binchy’s last novel. It is set in Dublin in the present day, and is the story of Cathy and Tom, who struggle to set up a catering business. The tale follows the ups and downs of their business and the people they interact with. The book is about relationships – husband and wife, wife and mother-in-law, a variety of people with children, between colleagues and friends. Ms Binchy explores these multilayered relationships in her usual sensitive and heartwarming way. Once again I found myself sucked in by the story and quite unable to put it down until I had finished it. This is no example of heavy literature, but the storyteller has such great skill in involving the reader with the characters that I sure the novel will stand the test of time and join this author’s other novels as favourite reading. The gentle Irishness that comes through is very attractive – I find myself considering Dublin as a holiday destination!

- 25/08/01 I didn't say much about the story because lots of other people have covered it - but will bear comments in mind for future ops. It's Maeve herself who says it's her last!

As for being Binchy's *last* book - I do hope not - maybe her *latest* book
