- The book, the style and format - This book is only 12 pages, 6 double-page spreads. Thereby making it a good length for 18 months + children. But I have found that it isn't long enough for 3 years and upwards. The book is a boardbook which has thick pages, ideal for 'little hands' as they can't accidentally rip the pages! Like many of Rod Campbells' books it has a very simple, repetitive format: 'The scariest thing in the garden is...... a hairy spider.' 'The scariest thing in the forest is... a hissing snake.'
