The main flaw of The Astrological Diary of God by Bo Fowler is that it is nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is, and so comes across like a science teacher masquerading as Stephen Hawking - lacking any real depth, insight or understanding. Fowler begins by establishing the "witty" and "outrageous" plot. God, aka The Divine Being, and known to us as Japs Eye Fontanelle (arf! Crazy name or what!), a retired kamikaze pilot, is being held in Fort Knox on the charge of killing Time. The story of his past and present is told through Bridget Jones/ Adrian Mole style diary entries, but Fowler's protagonist lacks the charm of either of ...
