JJJJ Test Your Cat: The Cat IQ Test - E.M. Bard: ... of you who have read a few of my recent reviews will notice that I have been working through many of the novelty stocking-filler type items which inevitably appear at this time of year. Books especially are prone to the Christmas cash-in on the part of sellers, and shops like Waterstones and WH Smith always have a prominent shelf full of these often rubbish and cheaply made items. Test your Cat by E.M Bard,...

Maeztro The Blind Watchmaker - Richard Dawkins
... read The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins after I had read The God Delusion . I have to say that The Blind Watchmaker has to be one of the best books I have ever read. The book is filled with fascinating explanations of nature and descriptions of the many facets of evolution. There are many examples which invite the reader into a fantastic world, based on more fact than wishy-washy theories, although the book is filled with theories aswell and one theory which I found fascinating was the idea that dolphins may have a way of communicating images to one-another via their in built sonor communication system. I would love to find out whether or not dolphins do act...

nottellingu Affluenza - Oliver James
... James raises some interesting points in this rather hefty book, which seems extremely relevant and timely for the experiences we re currently having in the west - i.e. recession. Heavily scrutinising the anglosphere s habits in pretty much every aspect of modern life - work, income, leisure, gender relations, etc. - in order to compare their experiences with the supposedly more balanced, traditional approach taken in places like China, Russia and Singapore, James raises some valid points. With the naked eye, with binoculars, or with a powerful telescope, the view of the heavens consists of stunning, literally astronomical delights. From flashing meteors, to dazzling planets, to distant star clusters; astronomy can show the observer sights that can astound, particularly when the nature of the objects being viewed is understood. Staring at the Orion Nebula on a crisp winter evening can be breathtaking. Even more amazing, however, is knowing that this glowing cloud is actually a stellar nursery. Stars are being born here, as we watch, over 1400 light years away. Knowing what to see and...
