The Case for Mars - Robert Zubrin:
... week, NASA reignited the is there life on Mars? discussion with an announcement that meteorite ALH84001 does indeed contain fossils of ancient Martian bacteria. This proclamation was made 12 years ago and discounted at the time due to lack of concrete evidence. New analytical techniques have, apparently, re-convinced NASA that the features seen in ALH84001 were produced by biological rather than chemical pro... Birds of the British Isles ... my job as a designer / illustrator, I frequently have to create interpretation boards for nature reserves, and wildlife-based learning resources for schools. For this reason I own a lot of books relating to the bird-life of the British Isles. That s not to say i m a bird watcher, as the idea of dressing in tweed clothing and lugging binoculars / photograpic equipment through bushes and across fields doesn t really do it for me! (sorry bird watchers, i m aware that this is a stereotypical view of your hobby!). The bird based books which I own help me cross reference statistics about each species, and also allow me to double check the facts which I have taken from frequ... The Elegant Universe - Brian Greene ... Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory, written by Brian Greene (Jonathan Cape, 1999) The first thing to state is this book is ten years old so may not be up to date with the current state of research into string theory. Having said that, the author does write of his hope that, a decade later, the Large Hadron Collider will be completed at the CERN institute, near Lake Geneva, and that this remarkable particle accelerator will at last be able to produce the first tentative glimmer of empirical evidence for a few of the string theorists so far abstract postulations. So that sort of brings us to now. Greene, an Oxf... Read the full review: The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene by Lichfield1979 |

The Good Study Guide - Andy Northedge ... bought this book, as i d been out for education a few years before heading to university and wanted to swot up before starting the course. The book contains LOADS of useful information, including developing your writing, speaking, reading etc. The book also goes into each topic in detail which is very helpful, yet it is an easy to read and easy to follow book. This isnt the sort of book you read from cover to cover. Really it is more beneficial to read chapters you are interested in developing or refreshing a topic area before starting revision for exams. Throughout the book, there are many real life example, such as student s experiences or written reports. Act... Read the full review: A study guide for ALL! by emma_ski |
