Universe - Robert Dinwiddie:
... was given Universe as a present from my brother on my 20th birthday. The front of the book has a beautiful picture of NGC1850, located in the southern hemisphere galaxy the large megallanic cloud. This is a cluster of stars thats type is not found in our own galaxy, in that it has the composition of a globular cluster (very compact with a high number of stars) but all globulars in our galaxy contain old stars wh... Ultimate Book of Incredible Eye-twisters - Mark Hanks ... s that time of year when the market is flooded with novelty Christmas books which are normally given pride of place in the local Waterstones or W.H Smith. These publications are generally cheap and nasty items which have been rushed out solely to be picked up as last minute stockingfillers by shoppers. One such book is The Ultimate Book of Incredible Eye Twisters by M.P Hanks which can currently be purchased from Amazon for £3.77. Measuring 11 x 11cms, and featuring a cheap looking blue and red softback cover, this particular book appears somewhat short in quality - and it is. Inside, things don t improve greatly, with black and white text and images, and not a sing... Read the full review: Incredible?... no. Eye Twisters?... no. by JJJJ |

Home Birth: A Practical Guide - Nicky Wesson ... the book "Home Birth - a Practical Guide" is misnamed in a sense because it doesn t actually tell you all that much about the practicalities of giving birth to a baby (it seems clear that as the author, Nicky Wesson has written a whole other book about that aspect of things she didn t want to give too much away in this volume) you ll find there is some mildly relevant information on the bearing-down-and-fetching-water-and-warm-towels aspect of the proceedings over two pages of Chapter 10 - the do-it-yourself delivery. While I can say from recent personal experience that this isn t nearly enough to be of help to you when the midwives haven t arrived a... A Brief History of Time - Stephen Hawking ... into it. Unless you ve studied physics to quite a high level (degree) this is a challenging read. I appreciate that Prof. Hawking has described many of the concepts in it in what he would say were laymans terms, but it s still a little on the tough side to visualise what he is talking about - especially later on, where he has made the assumption that you have completely understood and grasped what he talked about early on. I challenge anyone to understand what the teapot in space and flying spagetti monster are first time around. They are concepts that the man in the street simply cannot understand without considerable effort. Despite this, the book is worth p...
