Advantages: Fits nicely in with the others in the series
Disadvantages: Upsetting
This is the fourth book in the Dollanganger/Flowers in the Attic series, and the last to feature the Dollanganger Children.
In this book, Cathy and Christopher finally return to Foxworth hall, the place where they were held captive for so many years and lost their brother Cory. This time though they return to live there, with their son Bart, who has been left the house in his inheritance.
Despite their attempts to be happy, Cathy can not let go of the past, living in Foxworth Hall is hard for her, and Bart seems to grow increasingly hostile towards his family and his parents. This book is a heartbreaking, equally shadowy end to the Dollanganger's story, and it draws you in slowly and painfully, squeezing you sympathy for every last drop until the end where ultimately, you can't help but cry.
I would say this book, despite its terribly sad themes, is the only book in the series that conveys a twisted sort of hope for the future; it doesn't leave the reader feeling completely bleak and desolate, unlike others, and If you have read the other books in the series, this is a must, it ties up everything nicely, in this deeply emotional novel.
Summary: To complete the series, it's an essenital.
