... Wasteland, and Ash Wednesday. The poems are often very long & it is difficult to get your head around what they're saying - analaysis of content can be found on the internet, or in textbooks, but I prefer to simply enjoy the fascinating descriptions and metaphors Eliot uses - often his poems are like stumbling into a strange dream, where nothing is as it seems. Although some of Eliots poetry is upbeat and lighthearted, such as 'McCavity', it is often melancholy and unhappy - Eliot had both a difficult personal and p...more

I love the poetry of TS Eliot - when I was little, my mum used to read us McCavity, the mystery cat & then we started looking at poems like the famous 'Alfred J Prufrock', and 'The Wasteland' In my review, I'm going to talk a little about TS Eliot & his poetry. T.S Eliot may be quite a lesser known poet to all of you out there whom actually take it upon yourselves to read. Of course if you are like myself you would know that T.S Eliot is infact incredibly well known throughout literature especially for critical pieces on literature. If Mr Eliot happened to be writing on 'dooyoo' you can rest assure that he would dominate the books and magazines section often with criticisms we would frown upon and some we could only agree with. Unfortunately for those of you unfamiliar with T.S Eliot he does not fit the stereotypical poet i.e. he wasn't born centuries ago. Infact T.S Eliot was writing poetry in the early 20th ...
