The cover of the book screams holiday read - it has a back shot of a woman sitting on the beach looking out the sea in a large sun hat, and the title is written across the sky in airplane sky writing.

The main character of the story is Angela, a northern lass who emigrated to Canada to be with her husband Jonathan. When she finds herself widowed at 32, she remembers a conversation she had with Jonathan before he died where he wanted her to marry again and promised to send her someone. After several disastrous blind dates a couple of years after his death Angela finds herself asking him to send her a lover.

On a visit to England to see her mum Vivien, Angela finds herself booking them both on a trip to Greece. While there she meets two handsome men who she connects with. Greek Georgias who runs an olive grove on the island, and Irish Sean who is on holiday with friends. Could it be that Jonathan has kept his promise and sent her a lover, and if so which one is it????

The story is presented in the first person from Angela's point of view. It really documents her journey of discovery to find herself, and you do feel her emotions as the story progresses. She starts off in limbo, she has lost her home, is trapped in a job she hates and can't seem to find her own identity without Jonathan. You find her really coming alive as the story progresses, and she leaves Greece a very different person.

I really liked the character of Vivian - she is a real contrast to Angela. She is one of those women who has improved with age, and oozes confidence/ She has just turned 60 but tells everyone she is 50, and is growing old disgracefully. She can't accept the fact that she is getting older, and refers to her blood pressure medication as her 'Beautiful Pretty pills'. The relationship between Vivian and Angela is very loving although sometimes you wonder who the mother is in the relationship!!

The story has a couple of real twists, and although the ending was a bit of a letdown, I could not have guessed how it would end! It is not one I would be in a great hurry to read again, but for a book to chuck in you holiday suitcase, it does the job!!
