This is a 266 page photographic record of the events on, and after, September 11. Many of the photographs have been taken by Reuters staff and the book is dedicated to the 6 colleagues that they lost on the day. With each photo there is a small amount of text. All royalties from the book are being donated to AIDfund and AIDfund America. Now, some people may not like the idea of a book based on this atrocity, and a photographic book at that. However, as soon as I saw the book advertised I felt compelled to buy it. Not for the morbid curiosity of it, but because I'll never forget September 11; I'll always remember where I was and what I was doing and I think that the attack and the thousands of innocent people who died in it should be remembered. I liken it to the day that John Kennedy was shot, everybody remembers that day too. Some people may think that the book is in bad taste and "glorifies" what happened. I don't. The amount of photographs of the actual twin towers are few, about 12. The rest of the photographs are of ordinary people in the street, emergency service employees etc and then all the things that happened afterwards. Pictures of the missing persons notices that went up everywhere, candlelight vigils, people who survived it and world political leaders who became involved in trying to bring the terrorists to justice. If you get a chance to look at the book, do so.

- 17/03/02 I would have liked to have read a bit more about this. If the proceeds from this are going to the good cause then that can only be a good thing. I think it will sell well.
