Author Deborah Harkness herself is actually a historian of science and a university professor who really has spent time researching at Bodleian library, so she spends too much time describing all of the surroundings as she takes a walk down memory lane... ... It is perhaps unsurprising that the author, Deborah Harkness, is a professor of history; the author of several non-fiction works previously, this is her first novel.
