Its the detailed realism that really makes this book though. Throughout the book, I really felt I was part of the story. I think this stems from the author being s re-enacter herself; she really has a knack for bringing the period to life.

This is a book that has been read and enjoyed by three generations of my family; myself (twenty-something), my mother (forty something) and my grandmother (wouldn't forgive me for giving away her age) all loved this book. The plot is extremely satisfying and has plenty of twists to keep even the most astute people guessing.
